COSTA RICA
Costa Rica, smack dab in the middle of North and South America is a land of exotic beauty, with lush vegetation as far as the eye can see, long flowing rivers, and black, white, and golden sandy beaches. Costa Rica is a land of pureness, so pure that it’s no wonder the locals live by the words Pura Vida, meaning pure life.
Wildlife is exotic and nothing like you would see in your own backyard. Replacing squirrels, chipmunks, and robins you will often see iguanas, monkeys and toucans. Weather temperatures are hot year round with temperatures averaging in the Mid 80’s by the beaches. Water temperatures are bathtub-like. Wearing a wetsuit is simply unheard of, making Costa Rica an ideal getaway during those cold winter onths. Rainfall is most common during the off season which is between May and late November. The rest of the season is dry and brings smaller surf which is best for beginner surfers and those learning how to surf.
The most consistent year round surf occurs along the central pacific coast. Less than a two hours drive from San Jose lays a city known as Jaco. Here you will find delicious food, friendly faces, bars, restaurants, shops, nightlife, and most importantly uncrowded beaches and uncrowded surf for all ability levels.
Besides the surf there is plenty to do and see. Try a canopy tour through the jungle, visit Manuel Antonio National Park, a waterfall, or try an ATV trail tour.
